He was referring to my dig at getting treated like a "big act" in Spain. It
comes down to what you demand, also, Bill. Granted, we don't have gobs of
other bands demanding less (money or benefits), and do have a 37 year
history as a steadily working band, which gives us some leverage.
There have been people commenting on drinking on stage, and obviously a
concert scene is different than a club scene. However, bottled water is a
necessity for someone doing a 1.5 hr concert, with no break. It gets hot &
sweaty up there! Nevertheless, one can be discreet, and should....even at a
club.
Schweppes Tonic water is my drink, by the way, during a club gig. Maybe a
stiff, black Spanish coffee before, if I feel I need a little kick. If I
drink two (they're the tiny expreso type), the band knows it from the tempos
I kick off!!
