[Dixielandjazz] 'The Tailgate Ramble' lyrics

I'm glad this subject came up. Those are the lyrics I have heard too which reminds me that I have often wondered:

Is the chorus to this tune eight bars long or is it 24 bars long? The eight-bar melody is exactly the same and is sung (with different lyrics) three times. What's your take? I'm going to write this one out for our group but am not sure how to map it. Eight bars seems awfully short. Sixteen bars "feels" correct but the vocal would then go for only one and a half choruses so that can't be right. Twenty-four bars seems "different" but the most logical? The 16-bar verse is pretty straight forward. How do YOU "think" of the chorus? Eight bars? 24 bars? Other?
