I use warm water and just enough JOY dishwashing (a neutral)  detergent to 
get suds. Wet the grooves, use a soft brush with the soapy solution, and rinse 
-- as quickly as possible -- and dry with a soft towel.  Try to keep the label 
dry. Then let them sit in a dish rack to completely dry. If you believe that 
adding ammonia (base), vinegar (acid), or any kind of solvent or solution is 
going to help the process, go read a chemistry book.
