Two years ago, at a local music festival in West Chester, Barbone Street
was recorded by a mobile sound guy. A friend of mine who plugged into
the sound board and recorded us.
I had a CD, admittedly not EQed or balanced out, within 5 minutes of
leaving the band stand.
This was a guy who was experimenting on a low budget idea of recording
live, on site. It is just a question of time before a mobile lab can
record, balance, replicate and deliver CDs as the attendees leave the
venue.
Or, thinking outside the box for large venues. Want a CD of tonight's,
or next week's event? Sign up in before the concert starts at any one of
the vendor locations in the stadium where they sell t shirts, etc. Give
them you credit card number and address and the CD will be delivered to
your door in a week. Or order one when you buy your ticket from
Ticketmaster. Easy come, easy go. It's only $15 ( or perhaps $25 or more
for a deluxe version with photos etc?) You still spend much more on the
ticket. The memories are priceless. (yeah, they'll have to get a cut,
but the increase in sales will make up for that)
MARKETING 201 There is always more than one way to skin a fan. Oops, I
mean Cat. ;-)
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
