Dave Littlefield on his site said
"Before too long, you'll be able to carry to gigs a small laptop or notebook
computer that has a separate or detachable screen which you can put on a
 music stand."

I might point out that it is there now, but too expensive for me at least
and
I hardly ever buy the first version of the latest techie toy, even tho I am
a professional "geek."

Check out the music notepad and the electronic sheet music source
at http://www.freehandsystems.com/
and then let your imagination wander
May be too expensive now if you don't play lots of gigs, but
these prices always come down. Possibly the nicest thing
is that you don't have a lot of leadsheet copying to do and
no musicstand lites that don't really make things readable..

That plus a portable mp3 player full of samples of famous renditions
could help a lot at rehearsals when you have good musicians but who
are too young to have heard the tunes you want them to play.
