Dear Jim,
Actually, Beryl's washboard WAS small.
She showed it to me several times.
Made for her by a fan/friend, it was in two parts, each (as I recall) about
the size of a normal cigar box which folded out flat when in use.
A talented lady, she certainly knew how to play it.
A legend in her own lifetime.
Beryl was a frequent visitor to Oz and sat in with our band on numerous
occasions. The last time at the Great North Sea Festival (The Hague) in
1995. She died on 14 July 1998.
We also miss her.
Kind regards,
Bill.
