Sad to report that one of the great banjo players in the USA is near
death. Many of the plectorist's on the DJML know of him, I'm sure, from
his records and from his attendance at the many banjo conventions. His
daughter says he is in a very bad way, just sitting around waiting to
die.

He gigged for many years with Barbone Street and several, other bands in
the Middle Atlantic States. He also did a single act at the New York
State resorts every summer. I don't know what we can do - he's not up
for a phone call, never mind a visit.  I'll let you know if I hear
anything more.

Those who know him personally might send him an upbeat card,, telling
him you are thinking of him. His sister will read them to him.
