[Dixielandjazz] in tune machines

Just to throw a little inflammable material onto the fire concerning
"gadgetry"........

......amongst my rental gear aimed at studios, I have two Automatic
Tuners for rent: The TC Intonator, which will automatically keep a
stereo or mono track in tune at 40 Euros a day, and the Antares ATR-1
which only works on a mono track at 30 Euros a day. At those prices,
why would one worry about intonation? :>

Actually, Antares is normally known for its software which is often
included in the omnipresent ProTools hard disk editor now seen in every
recording studio (& in most musicians bedrooms.....I'm sorry to say!).

Soooooooo, most of your modern day singers have been shot through one
of those jobbers to help keep them in tune.

We don't have those problems in our band. Our instruments were tuned at
the factory! :>
