   The thing that seems to be overlooked is that the music of " Chicago' was 
written to fit this show.  It wasn't written to be sucked up by jazz groups 
and singers, nor was it written for mass popularity for posterity. No, it was 
written for this show alone and with that in mind it is perfectly conceived.
