Hello all,
The Jelly Roll Morton website has been updated with the beginning of a new
project. Michael Hill, Roger Richard and myself are transcribing the
"speech" of the Library of Congress recordings of Jelly and Alan Lomax.
Using the Circle 78 rpm set, the Classic Jazz Masters and Swaggie LPs,
together with additional archived material, and with the assistance of
Larry Gushee and Jim Dapogny, it is the aim to provide the complete
"monologue" of Jelly.
This will, hopefully be of benefit to the Morton fans who do not have
access to the Classic Jazz Masters and Swaggie LPs, or the Circle 78 rpm
set.
The first 2 AFS (Archive of Folk Song) numbers - AFS 1638A and 1638B can be
accessed from the "Updated Pages" Box at :
http://www.doctorjazz.freeserve.co.uk/index.html
Hope you enjoy.
Musically yours
Mike
