Larry,

before you pound your fist too hard on the keyboard ;-) please remember
that this list is always a place for lively discussions about all sorts
of musical and non-musical aspects of what we lovingly call OKOM.
Friendly arguments about jazz history, musicians, songs, performances,
audiences, dancers, venues, booking agents, radio programs and even
chord progressions area a vital part of DJML.

You may want to change over to the digest version and you will get
fewer messages.

Your points about band marketing and event announcements are very good.
Likewise, my pet peeve (especially as a radio DJ) is the lack of useful
information on recording jackets or CD boxes.

We need (as a minimum):

WHO is playing (brief bios are nice)
WHAT instruments/singers (especially if they are unusual instruments,
doubling or different vocalists)
WHAT songs (original composition date and songwriter credits are good
if available)
WHEN was it recorded (original and/or re-issue date)
WHERE recorded is also useful but not quite as important
HOW can someone contact the band (mail - web - phone) to get more
copies of the recording, other recordings or to book the band.

Graphics need to be very legible in poor light for our tired eyes - you
should see some of the non-OKOM CDs we get at KFJC - tiny white print
on flash pink or dark grey on black in some sort of hieroglyphic code!

Don't assume that only long-time fans who already know everybody in the
band will be the only ones who buy your recordings. I have several
recordings that only list the first names of the musicians...
