(Boy am I talky tonight)
Ken Gates asked:
1--To those who were self-taught---
What deficiency was most difficult to overcome to get to your skill level?
======> Not being able to read. I played by ear for a number of years.
2--To those who received instruction by professional teaching methods
What did you have to "unlearn" to get to your skill level?
======> You can't UNLEARN anything. You can only add to what you already know.
Training at Manhattan School of Music + Private lessons from Sy Oliver, Dick Jacobs, John Warrington
John Lewis, Don Walker and many others including Bela Bartok's editor. I've forgotten his name.
Learned reading best from teaching private students and devloping a piano course for and "by" them.
Cheers,
