Try counting the number of groups around the USA performing as :

The Platters ( To this day Hank Ballards Midnighters are performing under
that name in Bransom, MO, and selling CDs of themselves as the Platters.

The Drifters (A five piece vocal group that had 59 original members)
including Ben E. King, every album released had a picture of different guys on the
cover.

The Coasters Any black guy that knows the words to Poison Ivy or Charlie
Brown has a group of Coasters

I have been lurking on this subject guys and saving all the posts, I will
write my humble opinion shortly after reading them all very carefully. I don't
want to wind up with a shoe in my mouth before tasting it for flavor and
making some of my good friends upset with my opinions until I have proper time to
think about my replies of explanation.

I have no problem with the process, but I do find issues in the implied
implementation of the process which no one has yet seen or addressed, nor how this
process came about, except that a couple of famous old timers used to do it
all the time. Those guys were more booking agents than band leaders, and I know
how they got that job which I will address in my dissertation.

I am certain you will find it interesting, as I have not done one of these
lengthy posts for a while.

Cheers,
