Hi Dick & everybody
Thanks for the enlightenment on the BG 38 concert. This is an all time
desert island disc.
Krupa was rarely recorded as well. The dynamics of the band, propelled by
his great drumming put this session head and shoulders above the BG studio
recordings of the day. Pity it all finished soon after the C H concert.
The history of jazz segment where the small group recreates the ODJB is
again outstanding for GK's drumming. He managed to get very close to the
spirit of Tony Sbarbaro. Let's not forget such killer dillers as Swingtime
in the Rockies, Life Goes to a Party, Dizzy Spells and the classic Sing Sing
Sing, where Jess changes the mood. Great music and certainly one of my
signposts on the road to a career in jazz
Keep swingin'
