One of the possible ramifications of the proposals from our elected
representatives will be the need to license a supermarket or department
store, where many a gig is played. Similarly, If we play in a shopping mall
or in a theatre lobby there will be another need to license. If I play at
home (rehearsal) with another musician then I will be rendered liable to
prosecution. I agree with listmate Jerry that health and safety is
paramount, but a little more thought in the formulation of the proposed bill
would not have come amiss. .
Like most hasty legislation it's ill-thought out and the effects on the poor
bl**dy musicians are not even thought about or considered.(The silence from
the musicians union is par for the course)
