I took Nappy Trottier's place on the Saints and Sinners band at the Follies
in Columbus, OH. Barrett joined two weeks later. (Joe Sullivan was playing
piano in the intermissions.) That was in 1954. In 1956 I was in Reno working
at the Riverside Hotel with my dad, and we went up to another club on a
night off to see Louis -- in large lounge room with Pearl Bailey in the main
room, and Barrett was with Louis then, so that was two years after the
Saints and Sinners time.
