I have not had to play myself aboard an aircraft. However, in 1968 while
waiting to enter a building to play for a political rally for presidential
candidate, Hubert Humphrey, I was asked by a Secret Service officer to open
my banjo case. Underneath the neck in the little pocket was a (certain
unnamed substance) rolled up in a cigarette paper. I did some fancy talking
about how delicate the banjo neck was & how it should not be touched or
lifted up to look in the pocket. I dodged that bullet.
