I recently came across a reel-to-reel tape made by a ringside patron during a
gig in Rochester I played with Jack Mahue when Wild Bill Davison was in town.
George Zack was playing piano and took a really imaginative solo on one song
and as soon as the front line solo ahead of it had stopped, Wild Bill was
asked by the trombone man about "that babe in the second row" (some sort of
degregating comment) and WB reminisced about someone he saw in Kansas
City..blah...blah...blah. Mahue finally had the presence of mind to cut off
the chatter. He then took the next solo.
