Listmates,
Recently, with great temerity, I have taken a page out of the book of Jimmy
Armstrong (CanUs) and have been doing some vocals in French. "Piece de
Resistance" is, of course, the original of Autumn Leaves ("Les Feuilles
Mortes") and I am itching to do "Si Tu Vois Ma Mere" as soon as I can
convince the gang at the Jet-Lag (the latest hotbed of OKOM in Scottsdale,
AZ!!!!) to play it in F rather than B flat.
The audience responds well to this effort. A little change of ambience never
hurts, I suppose. And heck, if that Northern Irishman can do it, I can do it
too!
A close friend of mine, a native of Montreal, would love to have me do
"J'Attendrai", a catchy tune which, when played in a medium swing tempo would
fit in well with an OKOM band, IMHO. I know the melody and French lyrics for
the first 8 bars. Is there anyone on the List who has a lead sheet and the
complete French lyrics for this tune? Or, alternatively, could you guide me
to a web page where I might find this information.
Please contact me off- or on-list, as you deem appropriate.
Thanks,
Rob van der Plas
