[Dixielandjazz] Georgie Fame

Years ago Scottish TV commissioned me to make a piano roll of Hoagy's "The
Old Music Master" for the opening shot of "In Hoagland", a TV show which
starred Georgie Fame and Annie Ross. I had to drive all the way from London
to Glasgow (where the studios were located) where I met Georgie and Annie,
who mimed their contributions to a pre-recorded tape. Georgie was constantly
worrying that the nicotine stains on his fingers might be noticed by
viewers.

The filming went without any major hitches, the show subsequently won an
award (The Golden something-or-other) at Montreux, however when it was
screened on British TV my name was absent from the credits. I wasn't too
upset as I had been paid rather well for an easy gig which included
hobnobbing with some very tasty showgirls who just adored jazz piano.
