I love Radio Dismuke, too -- but I must say that there's LOTS of great
Internet radio stations -- I recommend going to www.live365.com and selecting
"Swing" from the genres -- they have hundreds of stations including one
called Dixieland Gumbo (if you want to go to that station directly cut and
paste this link: www.live365.com/stations/63607 -- that's the Dixieland Gumbo
direct address. They play lots of Wooden Nickel, Cornet Chop Suey, Chuck
Taylor & The Dixie Squid as well as the older greats (like Louis Armstrong).
The Broadcaster (from Modesto, California) describes his station by saying:
"I play a variety of old and new artists who play all styles of Traditional
Jazz. Some groups, like Rebirth Brass Band and New Orleans Nightcrawlers, are
actually brass bands. I also have some old acts in the mix like the Jack
Teagarden Sextet and others of the same era. I will try and keep updating
frequently as I purchase more Jazz CDs."

Some more really great stations include one called Hutton & Friends (direct
address: www.live365.com/stations/291841 ). They have lots of wonderful
novelty tunes by Betty Hutton -- including "A Square in the Social Circle,"
"That's The Kind of Guy I Dream Of--You Should See The Kind That I Get,"
"What Did You Put In That Kiss," and "Who-Who-Who-Who Kicked The Light Plug
Out of the Socket," etc. Her "friends" are Crosby, Hope, Doris Day, Peggy
Lee, Jo Stafford, and lots of really wonderful singers with songs that
haven't been played to death by everyone.

More great stations include Music For Swingers (direct address:
www.live365.com/stations/220675 ) They play lots of Jimmie Lunceford, Maxine
Sullivan, etc.) and Sweet & Lovely (direct: www.live365.com/stations/291039 .
Here's how they describe themselves: This station is strictly dedicated to
the popular tunes of the Jazz Age 20's and the Songbird 30's. You will NOT
find Bigband Swing favorites such as Glen Miller here. You will however find
recordings of the finest vocalists of all time such as Cab Calloway, Rudy
Vallee, Lee Morse, Ruth Etting, Annette Hanshaw, Jack Smith, Ted Lewis, Gene
Austin, Cliff Edwards, Nat Gonella... just to name but a few!

There's really lots more stations to pick from -- I enjoy nearly all of the
Crooner stations (and there's lots of those) but I don't know if that's
really OKOM. Swing2Jazz is another great station
(www.live365.com/stations/201439) and for those of you who haven't gone to
hear Radio Dismuke, it's direct address is: www.live365.com/stations/291071

Finally, there's a station I haven't gone to listen to yet -- it's called "
Classic Jazz Corner" and the broadcaster says: "the Classic Jazz Corner
playlist reflects a selection of my personal jazz music collection. You will
hear my favorite jazz musicians on this broadcast. For example, I play both
popular and obscure cuts from Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, John
Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Bud Powell, Art Blakey, Stan Getz, Chet Baker,
Horace Silver, Diana Krall, and many others.
(It's not exactly how I'd define Classic Jazz but others on this list may
like it...it's direct link is: www.live365.com/stations/24152 ) I really like
the Yehoodi station -- I know, I know, I could go on and on -- go check it
out for yourselves if you're interested!

Hope you all enjoy it -- and hope that regular radio doesn't manage to kill
off Internet radio by making them pay royalties that regular radio doesn't
have to...Listening to these stations has made me aware of singers that I'd
never heard of -- and with their handy little "Buy" button that takes you
right to the album it came off of on Amazon -- I've been spending money
buying albums by such folks as Ella Mae Morse...and it's helped me find
albums by such favorites as The Treniers, Betty Hutton, and more...
