Not to rag on anyone or beat a dead horse, but I was disappointed with the
responses to this thread. I had expected some really serious thoughts and
ideas to be exchanged between band leaders, musicians, and ordinary
listeners.

With few exceptions the thread's posts was a dirge of trivia about festival
directors, their decisions on band hiring, boring or duplication of festival
lineups, money...etc. blah. blah. blah.

Certainly we haven't exhausted the intellectual prowess of the DJML members.
Everyone seems to agree that most people can percieve that some bands really
"pack um in" at the festivals... have wild raving fans...and other bands just
play the music - allbeit very well.

Conclusion... no one is interested in analyzing this... no one cares.... no
one can figure it out... or whatever. If you ARE a bandleader, maybe you
should try and figure it out if you want your band to be one of those
"MUST-SEE/MUST-HEAR" on the festival circuit.

There were a few good thoughts - but hardly enough to scratch the surface on
this topic.

PS... maybe this is part of the DJML list problem... we seem hell-bent on
ragging on each other and not enough time thinking deeply and commenting
about a subject dear to us all.
