A few people have mentioned the Sacramento Festival, both in positive and
negative ways. While Sacramento has many non-trad bands, it offers such a
great collection of truly trad bands from all over, it is hard to pass it up.

Something else Sacramento offers is accessibility to everyone. A lot of people
probably don't realize it, but there are many jazz lovers who do not drive or
who do not have access to an automobile or a ride. Many festivals are
accessible only to motorists. Sacramento is accessible to all, with every kind
of transportation available both in and out of the city (rail, bus, air, boat,
etc.). Another accessibility factor is rooms. I've given up on some festivals
with great band line-ups, because of the difficulty of finding rooms or ones
that are convenient. Unless you wait to the last minute, rooms can usually be
found somewhere in Sacramento for the festival.
