In a word--yes.  I can appreciate and admire technical ability---
but it alone will not sustain my interest for any length of time.  The
undefinable "soul" of the music is more important to me.  I'm in
the non-musician area---but I do play a "closet" clarinet----so feel
partially qualified to comprehend technical ability.
