Folks--
    This morning here at work (well....) i just happened to be doing a search on "Ward Kimball" and the first entry was this. He died yesterday, age 88.
    If ever there was anyone who influenced me in dixieland, Ward Kimball had to be one of the main people.  Not only was he a fan and friend of Walt Kelly, but he had such a good time playing trombone that i wanted to play dixieland also.  Never saw the band live, but i started collecting the Firehouse Five Plus Two records in the mid-1950's.  Go get 'em, Ward, and organize another great band, wherever you are (and it ain't down below)....
