I agree that "Saints Go Marchin' In" is the most requested song
of a Dixieland band, but I don't agree that one has to play that
as a theme or promo tune.  I was in N.O. French Quarter back
in 1969 and stopped by Preservation Hall.  One interesting thing is
that about every three tunes, someone who had just wandered in
would request the "Saints", even tho it had just been played two
tunes before.  The old guys playing there were amazingly patient
and would playt it about every three or four songs -- partly because
most of the tourists would wander in, listen for about two or three
tunes and then wander out again.

I used to jam with Bluegrass bands (long time ago), and people would
always request "Fox on the Run", so that that became almost a hated
song in the bluegrass world.  (Second was "Rocky Top".)
