Here is a musical post about music and security.
I was going to down to Texas in 1973 for some goodse hunting near =
Altair, TX in December. I had borrowed a good gun suited to the range, =
but the loaner had no hard case for it. So I put it in my heavy Conn =
Valve Trom. case. Worked just fine.=20
As I waited to get my boarding pass, the line behind me was full of =
young musicians from Interlochen who were on a Christmas break, most had =
violin cases tucked under their arms.
When I got to the check in I declared, as required, that I had a =
firearm in my luggage.
"I am declaring that I have a shotgun in this trombone case."
I looked around back at the kids with all the violins, and added, =
very dead pan serious, "Lord only know what they have in those violin =
cases."
The gal at the counter lost it and started to laugh so hard she =
couldn't finish the tickets and boarding passes for a couple minutes.
PS -- I got a limit of snow geese to bring back, so we all had a =
Christmas goose. (Play with that line, of you wish!)
Jazz Content: I'm Flying High, Fly Me to the Moon, and Herman's "Goosie =
Gander."

I'll be curious to see what security is like. 10 yrs ago we got the
mirror under the car, "can I see what is in your trombone case,
    please"....(surprise! A trombone!!), a gunman on every rooftop =
within
view, a helicopter (plop, plop, plop, plop) silently floating almost =
out
of sight........ There's been an honest to goodness TANK sitting on
Calle Serrano (the 5th. Ave of Madrid) since last Sept., so one can =
only
imagine what it is like INSIDE the grounds. I will make a report to
DJML on July 4th, if I get in/out safely! :>

Security at the embassy will probably be the same miserable =
'non-security that the U.S. has guarded our Embassy's with for years. =
There will be 3-4 Marines and most of them will be kids just out of boot =
camp. I will be interested in your report.

Yes, this is 'off-topic' but I don't consider the security of our =
country to be off-topic.
