[Dixielandjazz] 94 yr old trombonist

   Readers long ago of Private Eye used periodically to encounter a joke based on a press misprint, printing after this or that name "(94)"
as in the hypothetical example Marek Boym (21)  --well, Private Eye could claim Marek is 94 but I wouldn't dare 
but a genuine 94-year-old trombonist !!! Actually I moved into a flat in a German city only a month after Benny Waters had been in town aged 94. 
I once had some nasty mails from a nasty male who accused me of being a Wikipedia Johnny Come Lately over the point that Eubie Blake celebrated his hundredth birthday aged 97 and if he saw his centenary it wasn't from down here -- but I then looked up Wikipedia and discovered Eubie's birth certificate or the like photographically reproduced.Eubie it seems added three years to his age in 1946 when he remarried -- just enough and no more than a few days for the revised records to get him his hundredth birthday party.  Such precision!  
anyway our for us newly discovered trombone veteran can be wished more happy returns than most, as well as returns of the day returns to as many slide positions as he finds useful !!!  
Actually Buster Cooper couldn't have been that far behind him, the baby of the 1967 Ellington band who departed this life I think only last year
