? Trombone ? George Phillips
Around 1956-57 trumpeter Don Fowler and clarinetist George Phillips, two musicians from
the Pacific Northwest, recreated the Original Dixieland Jazz Band on this rather unique
LP. Using trombonist George Phillips, pianist George Ruschka and drummer Darrell Renfro,
they perform a dozen ODJBselections note-for-note from the original recordings of 40
years earlier. It must have taken a great deal of work and research to get this down
correctly but somehow the bizarre project works. This LP will be very difficult to find
and it is somehow doubtful that it will be reissued in the near future.
Actually, you can buy it in iTunes -
Cheers,
Andrew
Why would one want a copy (this LP) when the original (ODJB Recording) is still available? And why even make the copy to begin with?
Regards,
