That song and others by Julie London in that period bring back
poignant memories. I spent all of 1964 at a small U.S. Air Force
detachment on frigid, remote St. Lawrence Island in the Bering
Sea. My only sex life was listening to a couple of Julie London LPs
and gazing at her picture on the covers. I still love that woman.
Sometime in the late 50s, Julie and Bobbhy Troop and other musicians came to
Sacramento for a concert. After, they all ended up at the local Jazz place,
The Iron Sandle. I was lucky enough to have been there that night. They all
sat in and had a lot of fun. The tenor sax player Richie Camuuca (SP) was
also with them as was other.
