Dear Bill,
According to Ted Easton's liner notes, they "had more musicians in the
house than one could ever afford. Later, much later, surrounded by empty
bottles, Billy was on stage in the middle of a dozen swinging jazzmusicians
(sic), kind of directing the traffic..." "Guys were borrowing each other's
hors to have a blow; we selected a 12-bar blues: HOW COME YOU DO ME LIKE
YOU DO... Well, the result is right here on the record..."
The quotes, including the capitals, are as they appear on the cover.
Unlike Tom Lord, he was there, Butterfield guested with his band in his
club, so he should know. And he gives one date only - June 28, 1975.
My copy is on Circle CLP-37, not the original Riff.
With kind regards
