Hi All,

I know this thread started out with an enquiry about Spanish influence
in realy jazz , but the topic rapidly expanded to consider the input
from other national groups. However, in all the discussions that
followed, I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the influence of Italians,
particularly Sicilians, in the early stages of jazz development in New
Orleans. There were plenty of them, particularly clarinettists. Now if
Steve Barbone were still a listmate here, I'm sure they might have got a
mention!

Cheers,
Ken Mathieson
