Kristina Weick, stepdaughter of the late guitarist Lloyd Ellis, responded to the item about Mundell Lowe.
A word more about Lloyd Ellis. He was a Pensacola native. He spent time and recorded in Las Vegas. Then returned to this area and played various venues. He was with Pete Fountain in New Orleans for 14 years. During that time, Pete would be invited to appear on the Johnny Carson show at about six month intervals. There was, of course, no reason for Pete’s band to accompany him – there was a great Tonight Show band to back him up. However, he always took Lloyd with him to appear on that show.
After Lloyd retired from Pete’s band, he came back to Pensacola. Since he liked to play, his performance fees were reasonable and he gigged around this area. A memorable evening, already alluded to in previous communication, was when Lloyd and Mundell did a duo guitar event with Pensacola bassist Tim Jackson accompanying.
