The fact that there are no lyrics shouldn't stop you from creating your own.
It's been done many times by vocalists and vocal groups who love a wordless
recording and create their own.

Who knows? It could be a new career move.

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Lyrics to "A Smooth One"

Barb Jordan asked:
> Would anyone know if there is a vocal version of "A Smooth One" (Benny
Goodman)?
I love the tune but can't find the lyrics.

Dear Barb,
As requested, here are the "words and music":
So far as I can find, there are NO lyrics to "A Smo-o-o-oth One" (with four
O's).
It was recorded by the Benny Goodman Sextet on 13 March 1941 and released on
Columbia 26099 and Parlophone R2816.
However, the tune (minus the A) was copyrighted as Smo-o-o-oth one; melody
Benny Goodman. June 27, 1941; E unp. 262889; Regent music corp., New York.
According to D Russell Connor, the BG bio/discographer, it was originally
titled "Moppin' It Up".
Very kind regards,
Bill.
