Congrats to Dave Robinson for realizing his dream -- a project that will be
a huge boost to trad jazz by offering excellent training to music
educators, band directors and their students. The kit is FREE!
Thank you so much, Dave! Spread the word, OKOM fans!!

STJS and its Foundation recently presented the 10th annual TJYBF (Trad.
Jazz Youth Band Festival) at Sac. State. BTW: This is a truly inspiring
event, and anyone who loves trad jazz would be thrilled to experience it.
Dave Robinson's labor of love (15 years in the making) is the Traditional
Jazz Curriculum Kit, a FREE package of materials in CD-ROM form that was
given to all educators in attendance. This is the first-ever comprehensive
curriculum for teaching New Orleans-based styles of jazz to student
musicians, and includes lesson plans, teacher's guides, music arrangements,
audio tracks, video masterclasses, and a classroom poster.

The Traditional Jazz Curriculum seeks to facilitate: 1. the revitalization
of traditional jazz styles through the increased participation of young
people; 2. the formation of youth traditional jazz ensembles in schools; 3.
heightened appreciation and awareness.

Again, the Kit is FREE. This valuable resource is being provided by JEN as
a service to the field under funding from the National Endowment for the
Arts, the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, and other sponsors.
