Dear Marek and Listmates,
As reported in Steve Voce's interesting story, that group was put together in late 1940- early 1950 during a slump in work for Basie's big band.
The clip (and its companion, "One O'clock Jump", is from the 1955 concert film "Rhythm and Blues Revue":

The personnel for the Basie Septet is Count Basie, piano; Wardell Gray, tenor sax; Buddy DeFranco, clarinet; Clark Terry, trumpet; Freddy Green, guitar; Jimmy Lewis, string bass; Gus Johnson, drums.
"Rhythm and Blues Revue" was put together using short films made in the early 1950s with new links and segments filmed in 1955.
The title of the piece you posted is "Basie's Conversation" and was made by Snader Telescription Films, New York, in October 1950.
The five titles from the Snader film sessions have been issued on LP and CD.
Here is the original Snader telescription short:

Kind regards,
Bill.
