[Dixielandjazz] Clifford Brown's artistry

The missed note was not a pitch issue but an execution issue. The note came
out as an annoying "blzzt" instead of the note.

Charlie, I just got to listen to the Clifford Brown tune. Am I in love with
it? Not really. But, the guys who said he tried for a note 3 times need to
go back and check their pianos a bit. He threw in 3 passing chords in the
space of a blink. He did that some other times during the song instead of
leaving that to the piano. I like the ballad version better than the bouncy
ballad, but he put some tremendous improv stuff in it and passing-chord
material that I studied in music theory.

I have a lot of his material but am not sure whether or not I have this.
Like some other music, I may like it the more I listen to it. Thanks.

general! Please listen to this stunning 4-minute track of Clifford playing
"I Can't Get Started." His virtuosity is at the service of melodic
invention. If the soulful, creative interpretation doesn't move you, I wish
you love and a heart transplant. Comparisons to Bunny Berigan are
irrelevant, except to pay tribute to the genius of both men.

Whether or not you appreciate the type of music he plays is largely
irrelevant.
