I have just heard Frankie Trumbauer 1937/1938 (IAJRC 13). A really good
record, but with scant information on the personnel. According to the
liner, other than Charles La Vere on piano, Manny Klein, Jimmy Oliver
(clarinet) and Tram himself, it was unknown at the time of issuance. I
wonder whether there have been any developments.
According to the liner notes by Ken Crawford Jr., Trumbauer retired from
music in 1940, and "exept for a brief period in 1945,", when he was an NBC
studio musician, "was never to rteturn to music." However, the Capitol
Jazz Classics include thre numbers by Frankie Trubauer and His Orchestra
from 1946: "You Took Advantage of Me," "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue
Sea" and "China Boy."
Cheers
