When I lived in So. California 1959-1961, I became acquainted with very fine
cornet player named Dick Chapman.he fingered his valves left-handed because
of polio when he was young.

He left the music business in the 1950's. He said his last job was in Las
Vegas.

His band was in one venue in a casino at the same time Harry James band was
in the main room, which leads me to believe he must have been very active in
the Dixieland trade in those days to be performing in one of the major Las
Vegas casinos.my question is, did any of you So. Calif. jazzers know him?

During this time I and my friend, Jimmy Rhodes, organist at Clifton's
Caferteria, would hang out at the Huddle Restaurant in West Covina and hear
Teddy Buckner and his band.

Warmest Regards
