To lighten up this strand, here are alternate lyrics to Gershwin’s “Summertime.” I wrote “Suppertime” in college for a music fraternity skit (Phi Mu Alpha) that was never performed (blessedly).—Charlie Suhor
Suppertime

and the chicken is greasy.

Gravy’s lumpy 

and the cornbread is dry. 

Oh, your daddy’s sick 

from your momma’s bad cookin’
