[Dixielandjazz] Sidney Bechet (was Monk and Pee Wee; other one-of-a-kinds?)

I am no musician (sadly), but I do agree : Sidney was the true King of Jazz. :)

Sidney was definitely one of a kind. We French still have a very soft spot for him.

Sure. Amd a disproportionately large number of soprano sax players.

Any French man nowadays knows at least two jazzmen : Sidney and Louis.

My good friend, the soprano and tenor sax player Jacques Sany, argues that Bechet was greater than Louis, and many French musicians would probably agree with him.

  Cheers

Nobody carbon copied Bechet and sounded the same. Not even Wilber.
Some French players came closer, but never quite got the sheer power of
      Bechet's playing!
      Cheers
