Makes perfect sense to me!
When Monk played solo, he often sounded very OKOM, despite some "weird"
notes.
I have a French CD feturing both the protagonist, but not together. Monkd
plays "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" there that is as traditional as you cen get!
Sedning for those of you who do not subscribe to "Jazz on the Tube" (so
what if I delete obout 50% or over without listening?).
Cheers

Did you know that once upon a time
Thelonious Monk and pianist Joe Turner
sat down at two pianos for a duet?
Me neither.
We came across this while looking for
material for Joe Turner's birthday today.
An interesting pairing to say the least!
