Wonderful to see a suave Eddie Condon singing the vocals 9and playing
banjo, of course). And the well-fed clarinettist is actually Pee Wee
Russell before the ravages got to him!

The son of a college professor from Utah
born today in 1905 Ernest Loring Nichols,
like many in his day, was inspired to play
jazz by the "Original Dixieland Jass Band."

He performed as a cornetist in the mid-West
before arriving in New York in 1923 where he
formed a long lasting musical partnership with
Miff Mole and became an acclaimed recording
star of the 1920s.
