First off, I have no idea who these people are other than that the recording
people are into antique phonographs, having started on cylinder recording
machines. I know this from Facebook and mailing list contact. I am a long
time collector of antique phonographs and amasser of recordings. Second off,
the way they have captured the style is what impresses me. If they were
playing a "modernized" style, I would not be as happy with the result. I
don't think that their style of "hot" is common now at all. -The following
is my opinion and as we all know, opinions are like butt holes i.e. everyone
has one. - No modern music is hot and current traditional/dixieland bands
are often more slick than emotionally compelling and/or "hot." FWIW, I am
an ear player of trombone in (I hope) the Kid Ory style.

it's very very good, sound wise, but I would advise your friends that it
isn't enough to copy the notes of the original, you have to capture the
*intention* -- to that end, and this isn't a complaint, it is just old guy
curmudgeon advice, they should attend to the articulations and *modernize*
them; what was 'hot' then is pretty common now. Just my opinion of course,
I still enjoyed their efforts very much ;)
