Hi Dick. Glad to see you are still alive and kicking.

All is well up here in Gawd’s Country.

Yes, post on DJML.

-Bob

Hey Bob. Tony Pastor Jr. is a pal and he recently sold me his dad's
instruments that include a 1917 Conn Alto, the first horn he ever owned; a
1931 Conn Tenor Sax, that he used with Artie Shaw's band as well as with his
own band; and a Selmer Clarinet that he acquired in 1954. His son told me
that these saxophones are the only ones he used throughout his entire career
to the best of his knowledge.

All horns are in pretty good shape considering that they haven't been played
for a half-century or so. Do you have any suggestions as to who would like
to acquire these historic instruments?
I have noterized certificates of authenticity on all these instruments by
Tony Jr.

I promised Tony that I would find these instruments a good home where they
would be fully appreciated. Do you have any suggestions as to who might be
interested. Would it be appropriate for me to post this on the DJML?

I hope all's well with you. I'm still leading a jam session here in Palm
Springs that's been going on at 10 am every Wednesday morning at the Mizell
Senior Center for more than 20 years. We get some pretty good players here
on a regular basis. I'm still playing reeds and piano but usually end up on
bass. My last regular bass player died about 6 months ago, shortly after
his 93rd birthday party. I hate to see 'em go so young.

I wish I had time to go online with djml but have developed an aversion to
computers of any kind having spent many years using them for employment
purposes. Sorry old friend Jerry Brown seems to be leaving the list after
so many years. (I always did get him confused with our governor???) :-)

Dick Broadie

PS I also have all of Tony Pastor's big band charts and I can't get enough
guys together to play them. I'd also like to find them a good home.
Arrangers were top notch incuding Billy May.
