<<My suggestion is if you want to try it, learn and put on the available lock downs and only make your account available to the things you want. Close your friends list and you should be OK.>>

There is no reason to lock down or close the Facebook group . . . UNLESS the purpose would be to keep this artform a super secret and kill it off entirely.

Discovery is a necessary element of growth.

Nothing you guys have been saying on this list is worthy of security lockdown. Banjos is banjos and Buddy Bolden is Buddy Bolden and the fact that you had a beer or a hot toddy tonight is not a secret to anyone; your friends and neighbors already know.

The NSA already knows everything and you have been doing your best to make your performances and CDs well known to the public all your lives.

Every single word that you have ever posted on this list is open and searchable to the PUBLIC (read outsiders) since day one. You are totally mistaken if you are under the impression that you operate in a bubble in this "closed" list.

There is also no need for super nanny type moderation on Facebook. There are decency standards and if someone gets obnoxiously crude and rude (think some audience drunks you've been accustomed to dealing with all your lives), they get bounced and blocked from the group.

The good news is this: The group just grew to 311 members while I slept last night.

That's larger than most of your audiences and it's visible worldwide. Now, use your imagination and use it for good. The person who may benefit the most just COULD BE YOU.
