I'm not sure what Steve and Bill's rationale is for taking the anti-FaceBook
position, but will assume they have good reasons. I'd hate to see them
discontinue their involvement. It strikes me, however, that FaceBook or
equivalents are no more risky than a relatively small email service provider
that is not overly excited by our presence, but each to his own.

>From my personal perspective, individual emails are tremendously inefficient
and have the tendency to become spam-like when I need to focus on other
things. Thus, the current approach tends to result in me being less actively
involved in the list than I might otherwise be. Instead, I get in a "delete,
delete, delete..." mode with the emails without even looking at content.
Effectively I often check out from the list for long periods even though I'm
technically still a member.

I'll stand by my original inference. A different medium would probably
result in a more vigorous list in terms of numbers and activity. Some
fallout may be inevitable, but don't think it won't happen anyway.

Dear Steve and Listmates,
So do I.
You would lose me immediately.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
