Hi all,

Just returned from a WONDERFUL trip to New Orleans, reconnecting to all my
old friends and finding new ones...
I have to tell you (especially our younger members who are budding
musicians) that Gerald French gave me a CD of his - and this afternoon I had
the privilege of listening to the whole thing!!! It is absolutely one of
the BEST CD's of Trad Jazz that I have EVER heard! If you want to get a
copy go to:

http://11thcommandmentrecords.com/store/

The title of the record is:

Gerald French and the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band - A Tribute to Bob French
(It's about the third CD on the list...)

and buy one!!! It is a real gem...
I've heard hundreds of bands and recordings, but Gerald has a TRUE New
Orleans Jazz Band - not an imitation... ALL the feel, all the soul, and the
real essence of jazz. This band is the oldest established jazz band in the
WORLD... It started as Papa Celestin's band in 1910, then passed to Albert
"Papa" French, who I had the great pleasure of playing with, THEN to his
son, Bob French, who was my "best buddy" for years down in New Orleans, and
now, finally to drummer Gerald French, Bob's nephew... Well, Gerald stepped
into deep shoes to fill, and after seeing him play down in New Orleans, he
is amazing, to say the least!!! Even though there are a few old warhorses
on the record, listen anyway, you'll hear a few surprises along the way, I
guarantee...

Pardon me, going to listen to the CD again (for the third time!!!)

All My VERY Best,
Steve "Stubby" Heist
Montreal...
