New Orleans had several railway stations. Almost every class 1 road had its
own with no sharing.
The L & N was on the river shore near Canal Street. The Southern was on
Canal at Basin Street. There was no reciprocity between any of the lines and
if you came in on the Southern Pacific Railroad, for example, and were going
out on the the Southern Railway, you had to get yourself from one station to
the other.
I forget where the others had main stations, but I do remember that the
Southern Pacific had a little single platform stop at Carrolton Avenue
between the New (Turning) Basin Canal and the Pelican Field AAA baseball
stadium, which was at the corner of Carrollton and Tulane Avenues. The Union
Station was a big deal when it got (almost) all the passenger trains coming
to one place, with the Southern Railway holding out for some time.
Of course, train service is now pathetic and the Union Depot does much more
Greyhound bus than train business.

Mamie Desdume lived in New Orleans (near Jelly's grandmother, from memory?)
and jelly learned that blues from her. So maybe it came and went from NO.
(I presume NO had a railway station?)
