This band is not in the strictest sense Dixieland, but it appears that many
people on this list have many varied interest. I am wondering if anyone has
heard or better yet has a mp3 copy of Billy Hicks and his Sizzling Six
playing "Joe, The Bomber" or "Fade Out?" These two songs were made in 1936
and I would like to find a copy to hear and to share them with a 95 year old
guy who played with Hicks in a Navy Band during the war.
Thanks in advance,
Randy Fendrick

Dear Randy,
Those two sides, issued on Variety 601 (recorded on 24 June 1937) were
reissued in the 1990s on a French Classics CD 830, an Edmond Hall
compilation.
Unfortunately, I do not have it.
Nor was it, so far as I can find, ever reissued on LP.
Very kind regards,
Bill.

Sep Troelstra provided the links for the two rare files of the Ed Hall Billy
Hicks' and His Sizzlin' Six sides.

Dear Sep,
Thank you.
I have wondered about these two items for many, many years.
Now I have them.
And I am not disappointed.
I was fortunate to spend some time with Ed Hall when came to Sydney with the
Louis Armstrong All Stars in April 1956.
An absolute gentleman.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
